Scope

The current research focuses on application of the mathematical modelling methods for interpretation of biological data. Recent studies on the actin-cytoskeleton dynamics, main research topics at the CCPL, require integration and interpretation of large amounts of heterogeneous biological data generated by various advanced experimental techniques. This gives us a powerful hint for development of novel and computationally-efficient bio-modelling algorithms that may fulfil recently rising needs of the biology researchers.

We develop tools for the quantitative description of actin filaments structure and turnover, accounting for the main actin polymerization mechanisms (nucleation, elongation, dissociation, interaction with accessory proteins). Our methodology includes deterministic and stochastic models. Developed modelling and analysis algorithms are implemented as computational/software tools and validated on synthetic and experimental data collected at the CPPL.
